Prof Javier Escaned is Head of Section (Interventional Cardiology Section) at Hospital Clinico San Carlos / Complutense University (Madrid, Spain). He trained in the United Kingdom as Specialist in Cardiology and obtained his PhD in The Netherlands. Author of >700 indexed scientific articles on interventional cardiology, imaging and physiology (h-index 100) and over 30 years of experience as PCI operator, he regularly lectures and performs live cases at major scientific and educational meetings. He is a recipient of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Silver Medal and the Andreas Grüntzig Award for his contributions to the fiedl fo Interventional Cardiology. Main areas of expertise include complex PCI, intracoronary diagnostics and functional coronary angiography. Prof Andrew Sharp qualified from Edinburgh Medical School in 1998 and is Professor of Cardiology at the University Hospital of Wales and Cardiff University in the U.K. He conducted his early training at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, before moving to London for his senior clinical training. He completed the prestigious Milan-Imperial Interventional Cardiology Fellowship programme, having spent a year in San Raffaele and Columbus Hospitals, Milan, Italy, under the tutelage of Professor Antonio Colombo. He also spent three years training in interventional cardiology at Imperial College Hospitals in London. Prof Sharp was awarded an MD postgraduate research degree from the University of Edinburgh for his work on the hypertensive heart and his research interests include intracoronary imaging and physiology. as well as the use of device-based treatments for hypertension and pulmonary embolism.

Dr Ricardo Petraco is a NIHR Lecturer in interventional Cardiology at Imperial College London, performing his clinical work at Hammersmith Hospital. He has been working with coronary physiology at Imperial since 2010 on the development of the novel instantaneous wave-Free Ratio (iFR). Dr Petraco’s work with iFR has led to the proposition of the Hybrid iFR-FFR approach and has established iFR’s close relationship with coronary flow reserve (CFR). His interests in computer programming has led to the development of a software for automated analysis of coronary haemodynamics signals which is been used by many leading centres in the world. He has also pioneered the algorithm for iFR calculation without the need for an ECG signal, an approach which is now implemented in clinical consoles. He has secured several research grants and published extensively in the field of coronary physiology. His current research interests are on the development of methodologies to assess stenosis severity in situations of haemodynamic instability and on the understanding of how medical therapies modulate coronary resistance and flow. Clinically, his interests also include the use of intravascular imaging modalities to optimise PCI and has been engaged in IVUS training for cathlab staff and cardiology trainees.

He is the President of Cardiology at the Royal Society of Medicine and is the Communication Lead for the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society. He works at the Hammersmith Hospital as an Interventional Cardiologist and is an expert in Coronary Physiology. His PhD research focused on the development of instantaneous wave-free ratio (iFR) pullback and co-registration. He has published over 100 original academic papers and has involved in the DEFINE-FLAIR, SYNTAX-II and ORBITA-1 and ORBITA-2 research studies.

Dr. Vijaykumar, Senior Consultant Cardiologist, from Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, The Madras Medical Mission, Chennai. Dr. Vijaykumar is specialized in Intracoronary imaging and Physiology, especially in treating Complex PCI’s. He is well known for patient centric approach which works well in Indian Scenario. He is well known for his expertise in simply complex PCI using Imaging and Physiology modalities. Intravascular Imaging (IVUS & OCT), Coronary Physiology, Percutaneous Coronary Interventions, Percutaneous Valvuloplasty (Mitral, Aortic and Pulmonary), EchoCardiography (TTE and TEE) He is also sub-investigator in many Clinical Trials and has been part of multiple research papers and publications related to Imaging, Physiology and PCI Optimization. He is also leading cardiovascular imaging Core Labs which provide Imaging analysis for research applications. He has completed his MD (General Medicine), DM (Cardiology) and FNB (Interventional Cardiology). Holds a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology from Prince Charles Hospital, Australia.

Dr Takayuki Warisawa is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at NTT Medical Center Tokyo and St. Marianna University School of Medicine in Japan. After graduating with honours from the prestigious University of Tokyo, he concentrated on clinical work, especially in the field of cardiology, emergency medicine, and intensive care. He trained as an interventional cardiologist for five years at New Tokyo Hospital, which is renowned for high-level interventional cardiology and clinical research. There, he developed skill and insight for complex PCI procedure. He had also taken the role of the Director of Emergency Medicine. While working as an expert clinician, he performed many clinical studies focused on the invasive and non-invasive coronary physiology including NHPRs/FFR, IMR/CFR, Scintigraphy and Perfusion CMR. Many of the studies have been published in international journals and a selection have been awarded at the Japanese and international scientific congresses. After working at Imperial College London in U.K. for 2 years, Dr Warisawa has been working on several clinical studies with international collaborators, as well as working as a chief of coronary intervention division and a chief of cardiovascular intensive care unit at NTT Medical Center Tokyo. For his many contributions and activities, he has received many awards and accolades, and the most recent include: The Young Investigator Award at the 30th Japanese Society of Cardiovascular Intervention and Therapeutics in 2022, PCR's Got Talent Finalist at Euro PCR 2022, The 58th District Meeting of the Japanese Association of Cardiovascular Intervention and Therapeutics in Kanto Koshinetsu in 2021, The 25th Beyond Angiography Japan and Young Investigator Award, The Award for the Best Scientific Research, Tokyo Percutaneous Cardiovascular Intervention Conference 2017. He is a leading Japanese doctor who is active both in Japan and abroad.

Dr. Bruce Samuels is an interventional cardiologist on staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Samuels completed his medical studies at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York before returning to Southern California to complete his residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. At CSMC, he trained in both general and interventional cardiology before joining the medical staff there. In addition to his clinical practice in coronary intervention, Dr. Samuels has actively participated in numerous interventional trials including IVUS guided therapy, coronary physiology and microvascular disease. He is also working closely with the Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center based at CSMC, working as an interventionalist in the active coronary reactivity research there. As co-chair of a 30-day readmissions task force, he has helped to shape policy for CSMC in its efforts to improve quality delivery of care. He has frequently been invited as faculty to many scientific meetings and is a sought after speaker for numerous peer educational platforms. Dr. Samuels is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Interventional Cardiology. He is married with three sons; his outside interests include contemporary art and long distance running.

Arnold Seto MD MPA is the Director of Interventional Cardiology Research at University of California, Irvine and Cath Lab Director at the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was an active participant in the DEFINE-FLAIR and DEFINE-PCI trials, and a steering committee member for DEFINE-PCI. He has published multiple manuscripts in coronary artery disease, coronary physiology, and vascular access especially in the areas of accurate measurement of FFR and ultrasound guidance for radial and femoral access.

Dr. Singh is an Associate Professor of Medicine, Medical Director, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Director of Interventional Cardiology. He specializes in coronary and peripheral vascular interventional procedures and spends most of his time in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. His expertise is in complex coronary intervention and also the endovascular treatment of renovascular hypertension, and peripheral arterial occlusive diseases. In addition, he has been involved in research ranging from new coronary devices to intravascular ultrasound and pressure/flow assessment of coronary vessels. He is the Principal Investigator in several high profile multicenter trials evaluating the above. He is actively involved in resident/fellow education and rotate in the coronary care unit twice a year. He has two interventional fellows per year who work closely with him during their training, he also serves as their attending in ½ day in patient clinic. He has second and third year cardiology fellows involved in clinical research protocols in the cath lab and their work has produced three instrumental abstracts/papers which in the first 12 months were presented at major cardiovascular society meetings. Dr. Singh is also the Chairman of ARCH, one of the largest Midwest Interventional Symposium.
