Dr Breda Hennessey graduated from the Third Faculty of Medicine in Charles University in Prague. Following this, she returned to Ireland to complete her general medical and higher specialist cardiology training. In 2019, she was awarded the Brian McGovern Scholarship by the Irish Cardiac Society, and this allowed her to commence her subspecialty training in Interventional Cardiology at Hospital Clínico San Carlos in Madrid. She completed a two-year coronary interventional fellowship, with a focus on intracoronary imaging, invasive physiology and ultra-low dose contrast intervention. Following completion of her coronary training, she undertook a further fellowship in structural intervention, also at Hospital Clínico San Carlos. In addition to her clinical work, she has been involved in various research projects pertaining to ultra-low dose contrast PCI, investigating the impact of new technologies in reducing contrast burden in complex PCI . She has authored and co-authored a number of research articles, book chapters and has contributed to the European association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions textbook. During her time at Hospital Clinico San Carlos, she completed a Masters in Interventional Cardiology and is currently undertaking a PHD at the Complutense University of Madrid with a focus in ultra-low dose contrast PCI. Throughout her fellowship, she regularly took part in the preparation and delivery of educational courses, both at Hospital Clinico San Carlos and in collaboration with other tertiary referral centres and international cardiology societies in Spain, the UK and the UAE.

Dr. Natalia Pinilla is an Associate Professor at the Department of Medicine Division of Cardiology at McMaster University and currently an Interventional Cardiology Staff at Hamilton Health Sciences and Niagara Health. She is the Cath Lab Director at Niagara Health and the Program Director of the Intravascular Coronary Imaging Fellowship in McMaster University. Dr. Pinilla has trained national and international interventional cardiologists in Complex Coronary Interventions and Intracoronary Imaging. She leads educational programs and academic activities worldwide; and has become a career mentor for international trainees.

Dr Nieves Gonzalo is Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Interventional Cardiology Department at Clinico San Carlos University Hospital in Madrid. She obtained her Specialist Certification in Cardiology after training at Clinico San Carlos University Hospital in Madrid. Subsequently, she underwent a research fellowship at Thoraxcenter, Erasmus University Rotterdam (The Netherlands) under the supervision of Professor Patrick Serruys, focused mainly in intracoronary imaging and bioabsorbable stents. In 2010 she obtained her PhD with the thesis “Optical coherence tomography for the assessment of coronary atherosclerosis and vessel response after stent implantation”. Her track record includes over 170 articles indexed in PubMed, as well as book chapters in Interventional Cardiology textbooks. Recent research projects as principal investigator includes a study about the assessment of neoatherosclerosis and its clinical impact in patients with restenosis (RIBS IV and V OCT substudy) and research regarding vessel injury and healing evaluation with different stent platforms evaluated with OCT (VISTA study). Dr Gonzalo is a dedicated educationalist with involvement in many areas of complex PCI, serving currently as Deputy Editor for Eurointervention and Committee Member of EuroPCR.

Dr Christopher Cook is a Medical Research Council Clinical Fellow at Imperial College London, undertaking a PhD in coronary physiology under the supervision of Dr Justin Davies. He studied Medicine at University College London (UCL) and graduated with Distinction (Clinical Medicine and Clinical Sciences) in his final MBBS Examinations in 2009. He achieved a First Class (Honours) Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology undertaking a period of research at The Hatter Cardiovascular Institute. He was awarded ‘The Dean’s List’ for outstanding performance in the Faculty of Life Sciences. In total he was awarded 17 prizes including the prestigious Gold Medal Medicine (proxime accessit). In 2014, he was awarded the Imperial Valve and Cardiovascular Course Young Investigator Prize. In 2015 he was awarded the inaugural EuroPCR’s Got Talent Award. In 2017 he was elected onto the EuroPCR Clinical Programme Committee.

Dr Takayuki Warisawa is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at NTT Medical Center Tokyo and St. Marianna University School of Medicine in Japan. After graduating with honours from the prestigious University of Tokyo, he concentrated on clinical work, especially in the field of cardiology, emergency medicine, and intensive care. He trained as an interventional cardiologist for five years at New Tokyo Hospital, which is renowned for high-level interventional cardiology and clinical research. There, he developed skill and insight for complex PCI procedure. He had also taken the role of the Director of Emergency Medicine. While working as an expert clinician, he performed many clinical studies focused on the invasive and non-invasive coronary physiology including NHPRs/FFR, IMR/CFR, Scintigraphy and Perfusion CMR. Many of the studies have been published in international journals and a selection have been awarded at the Japanese and international scientific congresses. After working at Imperial College London in U.K. for 2 years, Dr Warisawa has been working on several clinical studies with international collaborators, as well as working as a chief of coronary intervention division and a chief of cardiovascular intensive care unit at NTT Medical Center Tokyo. For his many contributions and activities, he has received many awards and accolades, and the most recent include: The Young Investigator Award at the 30th Japanese Society of Cardiovascular Intervention and Therapeutics in 2022, PCR's Got Talent Finalist at Euro PCR 2022, The 58th District Meeting of the Japanese Association of Cardiovascular Intervention and Therapeutics in Kanto Koshinetsu in 2021, The 25th Beyond Angiography Japan and Young Investigator Award, The Award for the Best Scientific Research, Tokyo Percutaneous Cardiovascular Intervention Conference 2017. Prof Farrel Hellig is the Cathlab Director at Sunninghill Hospital (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Hon Professor of Cardiology at the University of Cape Town. He is involved in both the coronary and structural cardiac fields as well as peripheral interventions. Sunninghill Hospital is a referral centre for complex medical problems. In the coronary arena, his main interests are: complex multivessel disease, left main intervention, management of coronary calcification and chronic total occlusion. He has been active in the field of coronary physiology and imaging. In the structural space, his interests are in valvular disease, septal closure, paravalvular leak closure, LAA occlusion and GUCH intervention. He is active in research, including numerous FIH studies. He has many educational roles, including: director of Africa PCR, numerous presentations and live case transmissions to multiple international congresses and is a proctor for many different procedures. Dr Pablo Salinas is an interventional cardiologist at Hospital Clínico San Carlos in Madrid, Spain. He earned his medical degree from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and completed his training in cardiology and interventional cardiology at Hospital La Paz in Madrid. He later obtained his PhD from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. With over a decade of experience, Dr. Salinas is a highly skilled operator in complex percutaneous coronary interventions (CHIP and CTO). His expertise also includes patent foramen ovale closure, left atrial appendage closure, and pulmonary embolism intervention. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Salinas is actively engaged in education and training at a teaching university hospital with an international interventional fellowship program. Prof Javier Escaned is Head of Section (Interventional Cardiology Section) at Hospital Clinico San Carlos / Complutense University (Madrid, Spain). Prof Amir Lerman Is an endowed named Barbara Lips professor of medicine and a consultant in the department of cardiovascular disease at the Mayo graduate school of medicine. Prof. Lerman graduated from the Technion school of Medicine in Haifa Israel and completed his training in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and invasive cardiology at the Mayo Clinic Prof. Lerman serves as an associate chair of the department of Cardiovascular medicine and the Director of the Mayo Clinic cardiovascular research center, the medical director of the chest pain and coronary physiology clinic. Prof. Lerman’s interest is the coronary physiology and imaging and the role of novel therapy of the microcirculation and endothelial function in cardiovascular diseases. Prof. Lerman’s research program is also active and publishes in the area regenerative medicine, innovative technologies and digital health. Prof. Lerman published more than 800 manuscripts, book chapters and reviews; the NIH, AHA, and several foundations support his research.

Enrique Gutiérrez is an Interventional Cardiologist at Hospital Gregorio Marañón, Madrid. After specializing in Cardiology in Zaragoza, he became an interventional cardiologist, and since 2008 he is a Consultant at Gregorio Marañón. He visited Mayo Clinic under the direction of Prof. Amir Lerman, and subsequently started focusing on coronary physiology, with a special interest in microvascular and endothelial function. He has published papers con coronary physiology assessment and the physiology of the non-culprit artery, and is the lead investigator in the Spanish multicenter registry of acetylcholine test ENDOCOR. He is a member of the ESC working group on Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation, and co-chair of the working group for intracoronary diagnosis of the Spanish Association of Interventional Cardiology.

Dr. Hernán Mejía-Rentería is an Interventional Cardiologist at the Department of Cardiology, Hospital Clinico San Carlos, Madrid, Spain. He graduated from the Medical School of Universidad del Valle (Colombia) and underwent specialty training in Cardiology at Hospital Clinico San Carlos, Madrid, Spain. Subsequently, he completed his subspecialty training as Interventional Cardiologist in 2017 at the same institution. Dr. Mejía-Rentería obtained a PhD (Cum Laude) in coronary physiology in 2021 at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He is a member of European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI) and has published over 70 indexed scientific articles on coronary physiology, functional angiography, intracoronary imaging techniques and Takotsubo Syndrome, and is author of chapters in different academic textbooks. His main research areas at present include coronary physiology assessment with invasive and angiography derived techniques in patients with coronary artery disease or ischemia with non-obstructive coronary arteries.

Dr Justin Davies is a board member of Monaco Cardio at the Princess Grace Hospital, Monaco, and an interventional cardiologist with over 15 years of experience as a leading educator in the field. His clinical and academic career was established at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College London, where he built an international reputation for innovation in cardiovascular medicine. Over the course of his career, he has successfully mentored 15 PhD students, published more than 500 peer-reviewed papers — including landmark studies in the New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet — and holds 20 patents in cardiovascular medicine and technology. He was the co-principal investigator of the DEFINE-FLAIR study, which helped establish iFR (Instantaneous Wave-Free Ratio), a diagnostic technique he invented, as a globally adopted standard in coronary physiology. Suzette Elias-Smale, MD, PhD is a cardiologist and clinical epidemiologist. She is specialized in cardiovascular imaging and cardiovascular diseases in women. In 2015 she set up an outpatient clinic for patients with INOCA (ischemia and no obstructive coronary arteries). Her aim is to improve diagnosis and treatment of angina due to coronary vasomotor dysfunction by doing clinical studies on new diagnostic tools and treatment strategies. She thereby uses her skills as imaging cardiologist and clinical epidemiologist. In 2016 she received the status of junior Principal Clinician, rewarding her innovative healthcare strategies. As president of the gender working group of the Dutch Society of Cardiology (NVVC), Suzette is active in the implementation of knowledge on gender differences in cardiovascular disease in the Netherlands. She is also a member of the global COVADIS (Coronary Vasomotor Disorders) working group.

Prof Kunadian is a Professor of Interventional Cardiology holding a Personal Chair at Newcastle University and Honorary Academic Consultant Interventional Cardiologist Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Prof Kunadian has an international reputation in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular research, making her a sought-after and respected speaker at prominent national and international meetings. She has championed diversity in her specialty as a role model; only 5% of interventional cardiologist are female in the UK, <1% are clinical academics/researchers and only female interventional cardiologist holding a University Personal Chair. She is also recipient of the UK Department of Health National Clinical Excellence Bronze Award. She is UK Chief Investigator in many multicentre clinical trials with major grant awards including from the British Heart Foundation. She has published >180 peer reviewed publications in major journals. She is UK’s 1st female to be appointed as the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society Research and Development Working Group lead. She has been chosen by the British Heart Foundation as their panel member for the Bias and Biology Campaign addressing the disparity of care among female patients with heart disease. She was the Chair/Lead author on the ESC/EAPCI Consensus document on INOCA which has raised the awareness of this condition worldwide. She has campaigned on the national media including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and newspapers to improve the care of patients with heart disease in particular women and heart disease. She is one of the commissioners on the Lancet Commission to reduce the global burden of heart disease in women by 2030. She was awarded Winner of the UK Times and the Sunday Times We Are The City Rising Star Award for 2018. In 2022 she was nominated for the British Heart Foundation Heart Hero Research Engagement Award. She was also nominated for the 2023 Northern Power Women Awards- Disruptor Good Category.

Doctor Fernando Macaya Ten is a Consutant in Interventional Cardiology working at Hospital Clínico San Carlos, Madrid, Spain. He underwent specialty training in Cardiology in Palma de Mallorca in Hospital Universitari Son Espases, main centre from the Balearic Islands of the Mediterranean sea. From 2016 to 2019 he completed a research clinical fellowship in interventional cardiology at both Hospital Clínico, Madrid, and King´s College Hospital, London. He has done research based on coronary physiology and spontaneous coronary dissection. He is author of over 30 papers and reviewer of high-impact cardiology journals.

Dr Enrico Cerrato is Consultant interventional Cardiologist at San Luigi Gonzaga University and Rivoli Infermi Hospital cath lab unit (Turin, Italy) the second larger cath lab in Italy for PCI (>1900 PCI/y) coordinated by Dr. Francesco Tomassini and Dr.Ferdinando Varbella. Following his training as cardiologist, he completed a formal fellowship and a PhD program at Hospital Clinico San Carlos, (Madrid -Universidad Complutense), under the supervision of Prof. Javier Escaned. Dr Cerrato is one of the founder of Cardiogroup.org, a research network that has generated multiple studies on coronary imaging and physiology techniques, particularly focusing on intravascular imaging and physiology, spontaneus coronary artery dissection and complication treatment and prevention in interventional cardiology. He recently joined the structural aortic percutaneous treatment program in co-operation with Mauriziano Hospital in Turin.
